Medical Affairs

As part of the Planning and Programming Department at NRBHSS, the Medical Affairs section focuses on ensuring the delivery of high-quality health services in Nunavik, aligning regional medical initiatives with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS).

Key Services:

  • Caregiver Support: Respite services and recognition activities like Caregiver Appreciation Week.
  • Dental Services: Implements plans to enhance dental care access across the region.
  • Intellectual Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ID-ASD): Facilitates service corridors, housing resources, diagnostic services, and respite programs.
  • Medical Imaging: Provides ultrasound and other essential imaging services.
  • Screening Programs: Cervical, colorectal and breast cancer screening with adapted resources for the region.
  • Support for Loss of Autonomy: Home support programs, direct allowance systems, and southern residential care projects.
  • Telehealth Services: Access to specialized consultations in various fields, such as psychiatry, neurology, and real-time imaging interpretation.
  • Tukisiutik Application: Inuktitut Medical Glossary, now available on Apple and Android.
  • Well-being of Elders: Anti-abuse policies and action plans to promote senior safety and good practices.
